You might have heard that some people, who achieved a lot, especially famous athletes or artists, are more talented than others. But is that true? IS IT?

Another view on the topic of success is, that some people love what they are doing much more and train it so often, that they become a master in their areas. They are so interested in the area, that they read about it in their free time, take courses, train and develop further all the time. They don´t change career, because they want to go deep, they want to master their area. They don’t have that 9 am-5 pm attitude, saying it’s “just a job”. They are passionate about it and some may say even obsessed. They will never want to change career, because they are satisfied!

To become great in anything, you need to love it, invest a lot of time to practice and master it, and get better all the time. Look at the best world-known sports athletes, artist e.g. They did not get born knowing how to run miles and win Olympics. It took them YEARS of daily training, many hours per day and every day for many, many years. We see them on TV and just conclude, that they were born with their talent. And that’s not true! They work freaking hard every day, master it and they do love it. It’s their passion. They dont want to change career, because they love it.

So, if we would copy that concept and decide ourselves, what we really love doing and focus on that, master it daily, we can become great at anything we put our mind to. The big question is, what to decide?

CHANGE CAREER IS NOT THE ANSWER for your fullfilment

Now just imagine that you could decide on anything, right now. If I told you that you could become a world-famous writer in a few years, would you go and write daily many hours, read and write, delete, write again, read, delete, write again, day by day for many years? Would you do it? If you didn’t have a passion for it, most probably not.

3 IMPORTANT STEPS YOU NEED TO DO

1. You need to pick an area, that your heart is in and where you can find your purpose, too. That’s the first step. And here is a guide for you can download it here.

2. You have to become aware of what your natural talents are and find areas where you can apply them the best. That’s the second – very important step.

3. Once you use your talents, even difficult tasks are easier, and you can enjoy them. If you train the areas where you don’t use your core skills and talents, you won’t last very long. It’s going to feel like swimming against the stream. And yes, you will grow, you will learn, but overall perception will be that it is a hard job and not like being in flow when things go easy for you and you are enjoying it. And you will be not searching for change career because you are not satisfied.

BEFORE YOU CHANGE CAREER – ask people around you about your superpowers

If you can take a moment, with some mindfulness and retrospection you may find out, what is it where you excel and are naturally better than others? What are your core talents, your ”superpowers”?
Often it may be hard for you to think about yourself and we have a lot of biases and limiting believes, too. So I strongly encourage you to reach out to 20 people who know you well (The more, the better. They know you from different occasions and will have different “lenses”, but when you have enough inputs, there will be few qualities standing out and repeating. That’s why you need more than a few people to ask). 

Find your 3 BEST QUALITIES for your career!

Ideally, those are people who have worked with you closely, are loved ones from your family and friend circles. And ask them where they see YOUR STRENGTH, YOUR SUPERPOWERS, and what your 3 BEST QUALITIES (work-related) are. When do they come to you or where do they see you offering substantial value to others? Or what do you tend to do much BETTER THAN OTHERS?
You will be surprised by those inputs, as I was. Because some of them I considered as normal, as granted, something everybody else has or can do, and then I realized, that it’s not the case. So even though you think you know yourself, I invite you and encourage you to do this small exercise to get another external view on your gifts!
After all, it is a gift to know your gifts! To know your superpowers. 😊

If you use your talents in your current job and still are not joyfull and happy and there is something missing, you may want to do the deeper analyses and here is an exercise for you.
